Welcome to Troop 300!

Many moons ago, I was a scout myself. I was blessed to be part of a program with tenured leaders who committed themselves fully to the establishment of a successful program. In fact, my former Scoutmaster has been actively involved in Scouting for nearly 40 years – remaining a resource for me still today. While Troop 300 does not have leaders with this sort of tenure, the same passion and dedication exists.

Troop 300 has three primary goals: develop, teach, and serve. We aim to develop tomorrow’s leaders through the teaching of life skills and service to others.

We maintain a high degree of parental participation. It is common for parents and spouses to attend troop events, sometimes outnumbering Scout participation. This is a testament to our commitment to providing a safe and inclusive Scouting experience while reinforcing the partnership between troop leadership and parents/guardians.

I hope that you will come visit and see if our program is a good fit for you and your family.

Blessings,

Mike Knutson

T300 Committee Chairman

We meet at the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepard, 10928 SW 15th St, Yukon, OK. Every Monday from 7pm - 8:30pm.  The Troop focuses on camping and doing other fun inclusive activities.

Charter Organization Representative – Troop 300

The United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd proudly honors the opportunity to charter Troop 300. As part of this commitment, the church’s leadership has appointed me, Michael W. Smith-an Eagle Scout, Geologist and Philmont Staff member of 27 years-as the Chartered Organization Representative (COR).

In this role, I served as a representative to the district committee and a voting member of our local council.

My responsibilities include helping Troop 300 succeed and facilitate coordination between the church and the BSA with Troop 300. I may also serve as counselor, motivator, and a resource to ensure that Troop 300 continues to thrive and grow, enhancing the scouting program through excellence. I'm proud to serve alongside the troop’s leadership and committees, and to witness each Scouts’ advancement within the BSA program.
